2...f5 rocks! You just don't know much, or anything about the Latvian Gambit. 😀 😛 😏 😵 😲 😵 😏 😛 😀
Besides, isn't 3...f5 the Schliemann Defense? Last time I heard it was. 😛 😕 😵 😲 🙄 😲 😵 😕 😛
1. e4 e5
2. Nf3 Nc6
3. Bb5 f5
I shall be playing it in this tournament.

[b]Exactly, much better than the latvian.

Another goes: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 f5 4.Nc3 fxe4 5.Nxe4 d5 6.Nxe5 dxe4 7.Qh5+ g6 8.Nxg6 and black is screwed as a bolt after Nf6 9.Bxc6+ bxc6 10.Qe5+! Be7 11.Nxh8. Black is down a rook and losing. If you come up with more variations, I'd like to see them. 😛
In case you didn't know, I have a book on the Latvian Gambit called "The Latvian Gambit Lives!". 😀

By the way, Diet Coke, my rating isn't over 1750. However, I want to play you as white against you and the Schliemann Defense. I will set up the board, that way this game won't be rated. What do you say?
Edit: The penny dropped and I challenged him.😳
Game 3316575
Originally posted by Diet CokeI've faced this cr@p twice OTB, each time totally unprepared. One game I mated the opponent in 19 moves, the other I was a rook up after 18. A lot of OTB players at a slow enough time limit are good enough to refute this stuff. In each game I didn't know the theory - but apparently followed the mainline, until my 'better-prepared' opponent blundered. One opponent was higher rated, btw, the other lower rated.
Exactly, much better than the latvian.

On the other hand, I've seen 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 f5 4. Nc3 Nd4 win for black in twentyish moves, in a game between two 190ish ECF (~2300 Elo) players. Actually I blogged that game - http://streathambrixtonchess.blogspot.com/2007/01/match-of-season-game-of-season.html - for those curious. I left Jeremy's notes off the blog, of course 😀
