Some Spanish guy (Ruy Lopez) didn't discover anything. He just wrote it down in a book which was widely distributed. The opening had actually been documented quite some time before Ruy Lopez wrote it down. Similar to people thinking Ford invented the car or Dr. Salk finding the Polio cure.
The guy didn't really make any huge contribution to chess. His other theories, such as position the board so the sun shines in your opponents eyes, didn't make an impact on the chess community.

Posting stuff like "hey guys i just breathed in some oxygen what do you think is the best gas?" is just irritating.
I got a great one for you. A knight attacks the opposite color of squares then the one he is standing on at the moment. So if he's on a black square, he attacks white squares. And then on the next move he goes to a white square.
So remeber a knight moves from white to black then white then black, or black to white to black (alternate colors) and he attacks the opposite color square then the one he is standing on at the current time.
You can use that in your games.
