Yes I have beaten the £10 Excalibur computer!! the line is quite interesting so I thought I'd post it.
I'm black - computer has 15 sec per move.
Nice counter I thought...
Now computer has 1 min per move
From there blacks won basically, the g and f pawns will win...
Got any Latvian games of your own? its an interesting line I think...
you were supposed to say yes e4chris, those are very interesting games, here is one of mine. 🙂
I am trying this line out against the much stronger Saitek and it is a real headache it plays very similar to the second game, playing d4 to protect the knight but after I play d6 it attacks with the queen on h5, it might have a glitch here too. but it won the first game easily...
Originally posted by e4chrisI think I would have tried 8...Rg8. Also instead of 10...Ng4 maybe developing the queenside pieces with a hope of castling may have worked out better. 10...Kf7 might be considered too.
Computer 1
[pgn]1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Nxe5 Qe7 4.d4 d6 5.Qh5+ g6 6.Nxg6 Qxe4+ 7.Be2 Nf6 8.Qh3 hxg6 9.Qxh8 Qxg2 10.Rf1 Ng4 11.Bg5 Nd7 12.Qg8 Nde5[/pgn]
Last move is forced - Saitek at 2 min per move... any tips welcome... 11 ng4? at the rook sac it only put me down -0.4 so maybe I lost after that...
edit the more I play it the more rubbish it gets! 🙁

Have you beaten Houdini yet?
Saitek almost down!! Look what an evil computer it is, I was a piece up and it still swindles a win.
Saitek Master 20 sec pm ps0
On 2 min per move it thinks for ages c4 min before playing 5.Qh5+ but on this level it played the opening quite quick and jumped to 7.Be3, which seems to loose. It seems to get lost like the cheaper computer. I had to take back a few moves 11...Qe6 rather then Qe5 - whites knight attacks and 19...Bg7 rather then Nb4, which does not win anything. I think there's a win with 26...Rf8, 27...Bf5. But I'd taken back to many moves then.
