At first glance it looks to me like you might have had a winning game. It seems like you could easily win the g Pawn at least which gives you a passed Pawn. My endgame skills aren't amazing though so I don't know if that should lead to a win.

Put it this way, you would have had to do something really really stupid to loose from the final position of this game. You would have had a passed pawn and an active rook, which should win really. Even if the ending is theoretically a draw (which i doubt it is), i'd be very very surprised if your opponent would have played the ending correctly. You definately should have played on. 🙂

I think he may have had some trouble winning it, but it's nearly impossible for him to lose that game. I believe his opponent may have been able to hold the draw with accurate play, but I would've played on.

I don't see how he would have had a passed pawn.
1. ...Rg8 2. Rg5 Rf8+! 3. Kg3 Rf3+! 4. Kg2 Rf4 and white doesn't get a passed pawn.

You should have played on though, because I'm not sure whether your opponent would have seen this.

I think 1. ...Rg8 2. Kg3 does the trick.

Black can then grab a few pawns with the manouvre Kd7/Re8/Re2
