In higher levels of chess you can see whether the game is a draw, mate or worth continuing so most games do not end as the way those from lower levels. It is not uncommon for lower level players to "soldier on" while lots of material down, but then again at thse same levels it is not unusual to drop pieces in the opening or to carry out Queen sorties.
It is better to save the energy for your next game instead of playing 120 moves with only a King, lose the game and then you have to pick yourself up for your next game.
