Black King: "Uh darling, I seem to be under attack here".

Black Queen: "Not now honey, there's a pawn to pick up".

King: "Dear, we really need to get some more pieces out".

Queen: "Just a minute! Look, another pawn".

King: "I am in real danger dear!"

Queen: "Just a second..... oh, another pawn, this is easy!"

Black wandered on its third move.....
... and white went completely out of book very soon after. A good, fun game though.

This was not a "refutation" of the Philidor Defense... black made early an obvious mistakes as well - so it would at best be a lesson in exploiting them.

That is not the mail line in the PD.
1.e4...e5
2.Nf3...d6
3.d4...Nd7
4.Bc4...c6

Although in my experience, alot of players play either 3...Pxd4 or 3...Bg4, the latter giving white alot of tactical play.

Black's strategy is very bad -- he needs to retain his light-squared Bishop and refrain from opening up the position. I'm guessing this is the first time he's played this opening?
