Originally posted by tejoWhat personal information are you referring to? He says his first name is Afro. He says he was "cyrano" and played at GK. If you go to GK and look up Cyrano there is a picture of him with his full name on a plaque in front of him. And I'm sure nothing in the FIDE database could be described as personal.
is it absolutely necessary to give his personal infromnation to everybody? Where is the privacy here? If he wanted that everybody knows who he is, he probably told everybody himself.
The question posed by the thread was "Is Dantes a pro?" And that is all we have sought to discover. The answer is "No."
Lighten up, tejo. It's not like we've delved into his sex life. 😕

with all due respect tejo but i think u have that the wrong way round
if mr d wanted to remain anonymous then i very much doubt he would introduce himself using his REAL name during game play or post picture's of himself on websites.
as for the discussions well i suppose that is just fame really, i personally would be flattered (so long as the disscussio ...[text shortened]... red on chess related matters).

ps - i did not post anything that was not already there
That someone has all the personal information on ANOTHER site has nothing to do with how we should treat his/her privacy on THIS site.
Ton
well spoken Ton. I don't have much to add here. You see, maybe there is a reason why the message log can only be viewed by the players in that game. If Afro (I can mention his name, because someone has already mentioned it 😀 ) tells something about himself against somebody else, that won't say that everybody should know that.
again i say, if he wanted to remain unknown HE WOULD NOT INTRODUCE himself by his real name - it is not brain surgery.
simple as this, tell ppl who u r and they will know who u r.
as for the fact that banter between players is not seen by others is irrelevant in this case. if we were talking about anything other than casual introductions then maybe (depends on subject matter).
AND AGAIN, i did not let cat out the bag either
i think the T/O system is essential and it must effect the ratings, the only tweak i can think for this is under the Loss column have 2 an addition column Loss by T/O.
i suppose u would have to the same with the win column to get a true reflection.
IT MUST however be reflected in the rating otherwise ppl will just wait for the T/O so thier rating remain unchanged when losing.
