I think we're all underestimating just how well Kramnik played against this beast of a computer.Alright he missed a mate in one. It was a mistake!! Things happen. But as a result he had to try and play more forcefuly in the last game in order to try and get the win to equalize the game. Otherwise i'm sure we would of had another draw.
It really is a tribute to Kramnik that he managed to get the results he did against such an awesome piece of artificial intelligence.
I have to say as i've said in previous forums that we all get a bit carried away when talking about super computers and GM'S and the way thay think. Not mentioning any names but some 1500-1600 players on this site actually talk as if they understand the intricate workings of some of these computers: " Aren't computer's still a bit positionally weak" Do they realise how ridiculous that sounds.
The average 1550 player on this site would do well to reach the other side of 20 moves against such a programme as deep fritz and the top players on here would do well to still be in the game after move 30. This is of course only my opinion but i really do believe the programme to be that strong.
I think the strength of fritz just underlined the genius of kramnik. I doubt there's another GM on the planet at this time that could have played as well.
With players around like him, maybe there is still hope for mankind!!!
