Here are some wins with the Smith-Morra gambit with a few different ideas:
Game 2579166
Game 2601238
Game 2717523
Game 2950352
Game 2950330
Game 2972094
Game 3034942
Game 3036402
Game 3234568
Game 3147441
Game 3094265

You can also try the Grand Prix Attack against the Sicilian.
It is
1.e4...c5
2.f4
& was very popular in the 80's & 90's at club level.
2.Nc3...Nc6
3.f4
Is thought to be a slightly improved move order. The Grand Prix attack can lead to a rather brash KS attack. I tried the opening, but quickly dismissed it in favour of the Smith-Morra gambit.

Dragon Fire also plays the SMG & has some intersting ideas quite different to mine.

I`m using 2.c3 in OTB tournaments about 8 years with good success. Good system for "calming down" agressive-minded opponents.

thought that main reason Grand Prix fell out of popularity was because of 2 ... d5. I've had some success with that against the grand prix

True, but you can play 2. Nc3 and then f4.

Yes 2....d5 is the reason why I`m not playing 2.f4

you are able to play c4 but thats a little bit later in the variation. you should play Nf3 and g3 fallowed by Bg2 press c4 before he can stop you. this is part of the english variation i think its kalled the maricozy bind. or its a bottvinnik till he playes e5 then its maricozy. it aims for wing play. if he allows you you kan play d4 which will lead to a huge space advantage.

the king's knight goes to e2 in the Botvinnik system, not f3

I think you want to get rid of that 'doesn't' bit.
