Don't worry, I'm on my way down. Playing too fast and taking nothing seriously so full of blunders. Will soon be below 1900 and descending.

At the moment I have 25 Grobs on the go and some of them against 1500 rated opposition are really dire. OK I moved fast without really thinking and got myself into difficulty so know I need to take it slowly and think! think! think!

No I'm talking about all of them.

I went through 20 of them and then I went through them all again, no timer and played through the solution.

Sometimes you make quick guess which are right but don't fully understand the whole problem. You guess the obvious move which is right but you don't see all different variations. that's why I like doing them slowly instead of racing against the clock.

Grob? Ugh..

Polgar vs Karpov or Krocknoi (spelling). First move was given to Karpov and Russia President retired got to make it.

He played 1.g4, and polgar and Karpov looked at him like is this a joke and he's like no play on. Russian = iron fist, gave them a stern look and they continued playing.

Story was something like that. Sounds better on chessbase. I'll see if I can find it. OO was it Gorbechev? The russian Pres?

Edit: I dont' want to find it, Nevermind.

I don't guess. I run through the variations as fast as I can, do some checking, but I don't do exhaustive checking or double checking. I don't re-calculate lines either, they need to be correct on the first run. -so I occasionally miss something, but you miss something no matter how much you check, so...

some do that exhaustive checking, running 100-200 problems in a row without failures. I think my rating development says what needs to be said about my approach.

I C. Well I like to do the exhaustive checking part. Used to it after doing slow tactics.

Anyways, I'll explore the site more after I'm done the 1001 Reinfield puzzles.

I remember that happening! Don't know what the eventual result was and if the whole game was played out. I imagine it was as you cannot offend the Russian President if you are a Russian chess player.

1/2 - 1/2 I think.

He asked both of them if they would like water and they said yes, and he cracked open the water bottle and poured both of them a drink.

They were so amazed, this powerful powerful man serving them water.

Class act!!
