Paultopia is quitting chess after I managed to draw a game he should have won. Please convince him to stay. He's a fun, innovative player with a lot of potential and a great guy, and I don't want him to go.

Well it was a short trip for him anyway. 🙂

Game 793977

He declared that he would rather be mated than see this game end in a draw, so I technically won. Now he's suiciding on all the other games we're playing.

Don't go Paul. Don't let one bad game get you down.
Hell we've all had them. Personally I've fallen into a mate in one while up a rook and pawns. Stay on. I promise not to beat you again.

Well... What can I say? It was an interesting game... I wouldn't stop playing because of that defeat and try harder next time. The thing is to be aware of these cheap shots and take an extra day to move whenever the situation becomes critical and your opponent doesn't want to give up. It was Paul's responsibility to spot those tactics and to remedy them before the situation got out of hand. But anyways... Is it worth stop playing chess because of a defeat like that? Next time, if there is going to be one, take an extra day, relax, don't look at the position while being upset, and take it from there... Don't let your opponent get under your skin!
