This duel of the old men is taking place in Mexico at present. The fifth round is just finished and the old man Nakamura (just turned 17) and Sergei Karjakin (14) are battling it out down Mexico way. So far, Nakamura is crushing the youngster 3 1/2 to 1 1/2 in the fifth round. The Nak just seems to be getting stronger and stronger. Anyone who is interested in mastering the end game should go over the rook and pawn ending of the fifth game. On ICC everyone was arguing whether it was a win or a draw. I leaned toward a draw. Nakamura quickly and effortlessly showed me wrong. Tomorrow's game is at 11 am eastern time east coast us (14th)
