Any suggestions? Look for something very basic starting with how to move the pieces for age 11.

I was looking at those Robert Snyder books, but read that he is in jail for child molestation.

Craig Pritchett's Chess For Rookies is a good starter.

But the best from all accounts is Chess for Kids by Richard James.

Snyder not only is a pervert, he isn't that great of a player.

My favorite was Chernev's "An Invitation To Chess". However, I don't think it has been translated into algebraic.

C.P has a good suggestion... I know both authors - nice people.

I would also recommend Todd Bardwick's "Chess Workbook for Children"
Here is his website. http://coloradomasterchess.com/

Todd is a Chess Professional and very nice as well.
