Can a King move into a space covered by an opponent's chess piece
if that piece cannot move without putting it's own King in check?

Short answer, no. Even though it cannot move, it is still attacking the square in question.

No. Check is a threat to take the opponents king. If you move the king into the line of fire of an enemy piece which is pinned to his king then he can take your king before you take his!

Let me make sure I understand. For example, you want to move your King onto a rank that is controlled by an enemy Rook and that Rook is pinned against it's own King by your Queen. The answer is no, you cannot put your King into check, which this technically is.

Thankyou all, that's it exactly 93confirmed, I thought that was the rule of play
but had never encountered that situation until recently.
