A great discovery. They play in a pub, the Wargrave Arms off Edgeware Road on a Tuesday evening. Order of the day is 5 min blitz. Any other RHP'ers play there?

I wish they had something like that in the U.S.
Chess I've seen in parks, but never in a pub.
There's a coffee shop that used to be by me, but it closed.
This is my only play.:'(

I'd pop over from New Jersey, USA, but my swimming skills are nil. Otherwise I'd definitely be there!

If you join the club then you can play OTB in the London leagues. I played my first game for Middlesex County Second team just before Christmas. I normally play 5 min blitz so a three hour game was quite an experience!

Club members can pick up a board and a clock in the Wargrave on a Tuesday but a lot of folks just come to play in the pub without being members. Some people play longer games in the pub but it does tend to be 5 or 10 min.

www.khcc.org.uk if you want to check out the website. There are directions to the pub on the site.

I love to play in George Washington Square and visit every time I am in NYC. I wish we had games in the park over here!

Our local chess club, Marple adjourns to the pub, The Navigation in summer,
when the local college, the usual meeting placefor club night, closes for summer. As I only joined the club last September, that's a treat in store !

You would love London.
We have a team in the London League Division one Run by a good friend of mine Nevil Chan called the Drunken Knight's. I have not played for the last two years. IM Collin Crouch play's board 1 and he loves a pint.

The club championship one year was 5 minute KO but you had also to drink a pint of Warm English Beer in that 5 minutes. (we like our beer warm)
In the final one person anounced mate but slumpted to the floor in his drunk state and was unable to finish his beer before his flag fell.
(and thus lost)

http://www.londonchess.plus.com/table1.htm is the league table and you can see for a team of drinkers they hold their own.

I must admit a great tactic is to play slow against them and let the beer kick in but the trouble is some of the players like George Leyton could drink me under then over the table.

There is also another club called Hayes that play in a bar/club/pub.

Also West London play one day a week in a pub.

I wonder why I always love the club's that play in bar's. Let me get a drink and think about it.
