A really broad question.
Best way is to read a book on KID. For online stuff there are many sites (exeter, chessville.com, ) explaining ideas and plan for KID. You can also view annotated games and play through them on an offline tool like chessbase available at chessbase.com.
Just to answer your question in a line. Black allows white to build a pawn center, closes it and then starts pawn offensive against the white king.
