What is your preferred variation for beating the kings indian, and why? I have experimented with transpositions from the english where I have c4, d4, Nc3, g3, Bg2 and delay (possibly for the entire game) the e4 advance.
Now that I play 1. d4 instead of 1. c4 I have tried the Saemisch and classical variation, but neither with great success. Should I go back to what I'm most comfortable with, are there more options, or are these two variations worth further consideration.
Originally posted by zebanoI think you should try the four pawns attack. The space advantage can litteraly strangle black on the early stages.

My preferred variation against the classical kid is the 9.Ne1 line with a4, a5 to follow.
"All mortals not named Karpov have a problem with such moves". Anyway, the game was interesting so I suppose I will have to try it out.
Between that, the bayonett and a further look at the fianchetto variation does it have a name? I should be able to come up with something I am comfortable with.
Originally posted by zebanoI don't know of a name. Anyway, what I like about it is that it's solid and dangerous for black. Black looks like he's getting a big kingside attack but it's difficult to coordinate correctly, while white's queenside initiative is straightforward.

I like Kiriakov's treatment in particular and in my two games I mostly follow Kiriakov.
