I heard the Petroff was drawish but I didn't think it was that drawish.

A 13 move draw by Kramnik! This is f*ing unbelievable!! If I were a sponsor I would never fund a chess tourney where someone is allowed to do that. It's horrible for the spectators and for chess. I think drawing games by agreement should be against the rules unless there is insufficient material. Yeah, that means sometimes playing an extra 50 moves, but it's far better than this. It's absolutely insane. What other sport allows this nonsense!

I don't agree. I believe they played to trade off pieces for a draw. Nobody really takes risks anymore, the chessplayers of the last decade had balls of steel but these ones are just wussies.

There are plenty of wimpy players out there, but I can't agree that "nobody takes risks anymore..."

Morozoivch is a true fighter, and the attacking genuis Topolov almost won the World Championship.

But, I totally agree with the sentiment.

the drawish style of Kramnik ... and even worst , without a fighting spirit ... and he is the world champion. I hope Anand replace him very soon ...

and the other one...Svidler...this one can never fight for a win...I think he only won when his opponent risked too much in playing for a win...
There might be some options...give them 2,5 or 3 points for a win...or do not allow them to draw in less than 40 moves...

Personally I think that the World Championship Tournament has been an excellent advertisement for fighting chess. Sure Kramnik has not been able to adapt his style from the one that won him the World Title against Kasparov and sustained it against Leko and Topalov. He has been a grinder for years now.

However, lets celebrate the fact that Anand is surely going to win this tournament by quite a margin. He has 4 win and no defeats. Along side that plenty of the others have been fighting hard for wins. In particular Morozevich and Grischuk have consistently taken risks in order to give themselves winnning chances. Sometimes this has rebounded against them.

It's particularly interesting that, in the post match press conference, when a journalist asked Kramnik why he'd played the Petroff against Grischuk when he was so far behind in the tournament, Grischuk, grabbed the microphone off Kramnik and said "Yes, I'd like to know the answer to that too!

Kramnik is going to get his just deserts and will loose his title here. Personally I'd prefer to see a World Championship Tournament every two years rather than a protracted series of matches where most of the games are drawn.

I think Kramnik is probably thinking ahead to his rematch and has decided to just get these games out of the way without any exertions so he can prepare against anand.

Taking quick draws also would allow him the chance to watch anand playing and gain a little more insight into his game.

I think draw offers should be banned. But allow EVERY other draw and specifically if the players want to make a 3- move repetition on the board they are free to do so.
In some cases , a certain player (perhaps feeling he has better chances) may keep on playing.
However, draws are an integral part of chess. to see more fighting chess the public should watch less rated tournaments et. Super GM chess is too difficult for most.

Exactly. I think Kramnik's style is better suited to a one on one match rather than a tourney. If and when Anand gets to face Kramnik in a title match I would never write of Kramnik.

I think wins should be given 3 points, not 2.

couldn't he just look up the games in a database though?
