I was playing a game against a friend(OTB) whom i've been playing against for 2 years, and every single game tends to start at Ruy Lopez. This time he decided to play the Latvian Gambit, something i've played twice before and he seems to have played much more! I lost. xD Anyone have a good site on the Latvian Gambit?
Latvian gambit is very irritating, it can be made worse so by a black player who doesnt play into the sharpest lines.
There is quite a nice latvian type setup against the ruy lopez that goes
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 f5!?
And then the best line, assuming both sides know what they are doing, is.
4.Nc3 fxe4 5.Nxe4 d5 6.Nxe5 dxe4 7.Nxc6 Qg5 8.Qe2 Nf6 9.f4 Qxf4 10. d4... this is the first stage of the game where the moves are not forced for either side so play tends to develop from here but the game is quite interesting.
