Also, its terribly dull but if you practice and become really proficient at endgames you will win A LOT of "drawn" endgames.
White to move and win
For class D players (1200-1399), I recommend basic tactics, such as you'll find in Reinfeld's 1001 Winning Chess Sacrifices and Combinations, checkmate patterns, such as you'll find in Renaud and Kahn, The Art of the Checkmate and Murray, How to Beat Your Dad at Chess, and the Winning series by Yasser Seirawan, which covers tactics, openings, endgames, and elementary strategy.

The idea is that when the black king goes down to capture on g2, then you take his pawn and your king position is superior (enough so to win his pawn and then the game). The other option is for him to advance his pawn and force you to exchange, but king position is still the winning factor for white.

Ke4

1.ke4 kg4, 2.ke5 kg5 3.Kd5 Kg4 4.Ke6 Kg5 5.Ke5 6.Kg4 Kf6! and now the squares are unavailable to black's king.
if 3...Kf5, then 4.Kd4 gets white the opposition.

How do you recommend it's done?-
I've got the basics, but am forever 1200-1350 standard.
Are there any really good books anyone can suggest? I've never looked at a serious chess book.
Are there any really good sites? I liked Test your Chess . com That was helpful.
I downloaded a ChessMaster to my mobile- improved maybe a little. But I'm still rubbis ...[text shortened]... othing to me before- but there's only half a dozen of those.
What can anyone recommend?

Here's what I was talkign about. Black king on Kg5 and White just played Kg3, white has opposition, blacks move.
Kf5 Kf3 mirror the king and keep the opposition. Ke5 Ke3 Kd5 Kd3 and now the question is where is the black king going to go?
He can't play Kc5 so he has to give ground and White can sneek in there and win the pawn. I'm just looking really quickly so I could be wrong but it's a promising Idea.
