I believe his puzzle is wrong I read the solution he gives and didn't agree with it.

This is his solution.

Not 1.Qxd7 Qxd7 2.Nxd7 Rc2!

But instead he gives 1.Nxd7 Qxd7 2.Qxd7 Kxd7 3.0-0-0+ picking up the rook.

I did not agree with his solution. This is the line I found

1.Nxd7 why does black ...[text shortened]... Rb7 2.Nxf6+ exf6 3.Qa4 Re7+ etc...

So really there is no White Win a piece solution. Busted!

There are plenty of typos to be found in books. Why waste all of our time?

Ne7?? i assume you mean Nd7??

Fxd5 Re1??? Have you just left your Queening Hanging? [exd4] If you Have...YUM YUM!
If Qa5+ then the king just moves to attack the rook. Then afte Rb7 Nc5 wins a piece. If Rxc2 the Qd3 wins the rook. Sorry about my many notation errors, my mom and sister were up talking didn't get to sleep till 5 a.m.

I don't care that much that it was a typo. You shouldn't follow everything you read blindly.

As for posting it on here. I'm keeping you guys honest.

You open a tactic books and you know that there is a solution and thus you score better on the puzzles. In real life if you were give the same puzzle say in OTB I doubt if you would find the solution since you don't know if such a solution exists. It's all in you mind. If someone tells you in your OTB there's a tactic, you probably will find it because you know it is there.

There's this tactic book. He put in puzzles which don't have solutions just to keep the reader honest. I think every tactic book should do this to avoid people from sort of "cheating".

Basically, I was just keeping you guys honest 😛

Actually In a odd way this has been "educational", well sort of...

In another Thread [white to draw] A rather complex position was posted, I spent about an hour trying to find the solution - In the end I gave up....finding nothing

Basically if i assume that thread was like this one it can only illustrate why you should trust your own Judgement -- and not neccessarily beleive "x" because a GM said so...

I too think this was sort of an eye opener. so often you find yourself thinking: "yea, I probably do assume there's an answer, but I won't make the error in a real situation." -well, now there was a 'real' situation, and the possibility of 'no solution' never crossed my mind. I'm going to remember this.

Yes, that's why i think that tactic book would be so great. All tactic books should throw in false puzzles now and then just to keep the reader honest.

I know myself that one I see a tactic puzzle in a book I know there is a solution and might spend over 10 minutes finding it. But in OTB I would never think this way.

See, so it wasn't a waste of time 🙂

Man, I studied that in the Lev Alburt books myself. It's easy after you've taken the whole course.

What do you mean you studied that?

Meaning you looked at Nxd7 Rb7! ?
