I found the commentary was really glitchy on my computer. Maybe it is because i'm using linux. Adams win today was really great! The piece Sac was really well judged, if he can only find a way to not lose to Anand, Vishy seems to have a voodoo over Mickey if memory serves..

Rd. 2 Kramnik squashed Nakamura, Giri beat Adams, quiet draw in Caruana-Anand.

He's mad.

Pleasantly mad, but still.

Mickey could have beaten Vlad if he saw f6... apparently he has a cold, this could be a factor

Naka probably realized that Anand, like Karpov, is not comfortable playing against these 19th century type openings, especially as Black. Remember that Kasparov once crushed Vishy with an Evans in about 25 moves a few years back. Good choice by Naka, and very interesting game.

2 in a row for Naka, blew Adams away pretty quickly in Rd. 4

I liked someone's idea I saw that all players should get an extra half point if they do not play the Berlin.

Let's just hope that the reason why they're all playing the Berlin is they're trying to refute it,
and soon we'll stop seeing it at all 😀

It's not that the Berlin is uninteresting, you can learn a lot by seeing this type of play. It is a rare sort of position in that it offers so little by the way of tactics, but lets face it, it really gets awefully dull to watch it played over and over and over again....YAWN!

Vishy wins the tournament via the tie-break, the condition being most wins with the Black pieces.

Only one game was won with Black in the entire tournament, and guess what? Twas with the Berlin!!

Yes i have to admit, his game was rather good. The Berlin can come alive, but a bit more variety wouldn't hurt. That said, well done Anand! Seems he still has Caissa on his side after all. 😀
