FYI
if you are interested, you can play longer games on FICS.
There is a league ( www.teamleague.org ) for 45 45 games (45 minutes/game + 45 seconds/move increment) and the games are played on FICS.
It is free and anyone is wecome. (there are different sections as u1400, u1600, u1800, u2000 and open)...you just have to play some standard games on FICS to get a FICS standard rating before.

Why would anyone want to play elsewhere when RHP is such a great site?

because it might be a better training for OTB games.

I agree. Correspondence chess is different than otb play. Usually it is hard to see new moves or novelties otb. CC allows this as the time controls are longer.
