Holy cow!
Just finished this game. My opponent could NOT mate me with 2 knights so I was NOT going to give up. Never mind the whole blunderful opening and middle game. What great fun with the pawns and the 2 knights. Tactically, this is no thriller. Fun and entertaining, this one I will remember a long time. Enjoy dicing it up gentlemen, I always can use the advice. 😉 One of my favorite games though. 🙂

p.s.
Oops, longest game ever. 🙂
Game 6514033
92 moves though it was obviously unnecessary to pursue a knight and bishop checkmate; it would have been mate on move 70 if I had promoted to a Queen.
Game 6516552
>The longest game I've ever played was 155 moves, but it was not on this site. My opponent had no idea what he was doing in the endgame in which he had a clear win. Eventually a K + R vs. K endgame was reached, and I just shuffled around with my lone K, keeping it as close to the centre of the board as I could until the 50-move rule kicked in, when I claimed the draw.
>I guess if I wanted to, I could have not claimed the draw and maybe we'd still be playing, thousands and thousands of moves later, because the time control allowed for increments and both of us were gaining time on the clock! But this was not a correspondence game there came a point where I needed to get some sleep.

With a King and Rook vs. King. I would have thought he could have put a win together.

It's hard for kids to understand that at first, so maybe he was a young beginner. I had made several blunders that allowed him to get that advantage, but he couldn't finish it.

>However, it points out a couple of things: the importance of keeping an accurate scoresheet, without which I would not have known when to claim the draw, and the problem with time incremental time controls. Because of such time controls, it is possible for a game to continue forever. I don't like those time controls.
I had an opponent express doubt that I could win K+R v. K : Game 2597200. He'd played the first 30 moves at a level that would indicate the ability to assess this endgame correctly. After an absence of many weeks, his skill level dropped dramatically.

Originally posted by DawgHaus68 moves is not a very impressive number, but that's the longest game I've played here. At the risk of being branded 'dull' by greenpawn and robbie, I must say I enjoyed the endgame in this one very much.

Game 4716998
If someone accepts my open challenge, I feel honour-bound to play. I had no way of knowing the guy didn't know one of the basic mates. By the time I suspected it, I decided to play a few more moves to see what he'd do, and then a few more, and on and on, keeping an eye on the scoresheet for when the 50-move rule would apply. I think it's the only game I've ever played where that rule came into effect.
Originally posted by SwissGambitThat is a nice endgame. Aren't endgames under-appreciated, generally?
