I believe I've heard Pandolfini say that even they only later found a drawing line for "Poe" after thinking they had constructed a great win...oops!
In real life, at least as depicted in the book, Josh pulled out a miraculous draw after thinking he was lost against Sarwer in the final round of the nationals, leaving them both with 6.5/7 scores. Josh won on tiebreaks.
