Originally posted by skeeterI'm quite fond of that line; rather than playing the safer 14 Kb1 or the impatient 14 g4, White puts the question to Black's e5 Knight. The line winds up with White sac'ing the exchange rather than Black, but getting good pressure on Black's Kingside where the absence of the Knight is felt. The line is MCO book up until Black's 19th which MCO gives as Bxd4 and evaluates the line as a slight plus for White. Like Xanthos says, I think he was too focused on the potential Queenside counters when he was exposing his King side a little too much. It wasn't really his days; in the other game he had an easy win but blundered and we wound up drawing.
Yes. The h file became unpopulated real quick. Easy to miss that threat given the pre-occupation with the exchange sac. Too bad. Allowing the Q to h5 was fatal. There was other play.

Winner in a field of one. I know there are players out there playing at my level or better with lower matches. I actually think I have a slightly higher than average matchup percentage thanks to my opening choices.

One could argue that a very strong player with consistently low engine match-ups is just as suspicious as a very strong player with consistently high engine match-ups. The bell curve has two tails. In the avoidance of being "detected", an engine user might take things too far!
but, in any case, i am not an rhp policeman, i am just a player ... and i would like to find a player with very low match and very high rating ... should xanthos be my god ?
Xanthos
XANTHOS
XANTHOS
XANTHOS !!!!!
xxaanntthhooss !!
X X X A A A N N N T T T H H H O O O S S S !!!!!!!
as a starting point i think it would be very interesting to know akizy's matchup rate ... XANTHOS, TO JUSTIFY MY WORSHIP YOU MUST PROVE THIS, you must be lower than akizy! ... maybe noone rates lower than akizy, in which case akizy IS EVEN BETTER THAN XANTHOS, AND AKIZY IS THE ULTIMATE RHP CHESS GOD! (just hoping 😉 )

Originally posted by wormwooda tail refers to the existence of a presence, and also to the unusually low quantity - just a very few.
still, somebody [b]has to be in the tail, because there is a tail.[/b]
does someone being in the minority justify excessive scrutiny? well yes of course ... and eventually, excessive worship too !
i repeat: what is akizy's match? (akizy will be one of my favourites, no matter how high the match, because akizy has the highest rating)
and: is there a 2000+ player with a match lower than 65%?
Originally posted by flexmoreI analyzed all my games with Fritz8 some months ago and updated it to 697 games (since then I resigned 9 tournament games without making a move). By my criteria, exact match or a move within .05 of a pawn equivalent to Fritz's first choice, I matched up 10.896/16,933 or 64.3%. In my two games with Xanthosnz, I matched uo 32/49 or 65.3%; he matched up 32/48 or 66.7%. The lowest matchups of my strong opponents would be Caissad4 who seems to be constantly under 50% but I'm not sure what Angela's rating is right now.

EDIT: Caissad4 is currently at 1958 and her matchups are a little higher than I remembered; in our 12 games, they are 156/281 or 55.5%.
hmmm we seem to have three contenders so far:
2060 66% XanthosNZ fritz 4 games
2052 64% no1marauder fritz 697 games
1958 55% cassaid4 fritz 12 games
so far there are no other details ... i would like to see the details on every member of the top twenty players here, if any can manage such a rating at under 70% then i would be very impressed! of course we may have to look outside the top twenty for the stars of low engine matches.

can you please give us the list of ALL the matchings of all your other opponents, not just caissad4 and xanthos?

[b]the lowest consistent ENGINE MATCH for a very strong player is something i would like to know.
so far it seems that xanthos is the winner with:
2 games analysed ...
[White "arrakis"]
[Black "XanthosNZ"]
[Result "0-1"]
[ECO "B75"]
[Annotator "Fritz 8 (60s)"]
[PlyCount "96"]
[TimeControl "300"]
{B75: Sicilian Dra ...[text shortened]... need to put a minimum rating of 2000 on this, with flexible allowances for even higher ratings.[/b]
