@eYe saidI disagree. Mr. Carlsen has nothing left to prove. He not only won the world title but defended successfully multiple times. He makes a nice income, and now lives a healthy, balanced life instead of becoming a chess mono mantic. Both of us could learn a great deal from his games. Sorry he doesn't enter the events you want, but maybe he has different priorities.
Boring. Same players every event. Lame.
Not only did he ruin the world championship for some time, but he did it when people were coming into chess. Since then you can see the views and viewers are down. The worst part is his fan boys.
So back we go to mediocrity in the games world just like before COVID and the Queen's Gambit tv show.
Also, the dude says he doesn't lik ...[text shortened]... w classical events? What a clown.
I would love a chess boxing match against him. I'd lay him out.
- and the only way either of us could win a chess match against Mr. Carlsen is if he allowed it to happen.
I agree in part with eYe. 'Same players every event.' Between them Carlsen,
Nakamura and Caruana have met each other 154 times in classical chess.
It is also a meaningless qualifies for nothing old chums re-union organised
by a committee blinded by ratings going yet again for yet another strongest
tournament ever tag. With only six players it does not even make it as a
FIDE qualifier for the candidates. The minimum is 8.
(Carlsen is not interested in the candidates...so who cares?)
And who are the Super Six?
Carlsen who has all but given up on Classical Chess, Nakamura more interested
in his video show, Caruana rapidly approaching past his sell by date, two other
players along with Caruana who recently failed in the candidates and one player
who possibly should be in hospital...'The Strongest Tournament Ever!'
Alongside this event was an Open Tournament;
https://tournamentservice.com/standings.aspx?TID=NorwayChessOpen2024-StavangerSjakklubb
Which you do not hear too much about as it was over-shadowed by the main event.
Why not scrap the 'main event' circus show and sink the small fortune the six playing
in the main event are getting into the Open. Go for the 'Strongest Open in the World'
FIDE would make that a candidates qualifier like they have for the Isle of Man.
This way some very good chess players out there, and there are dozens of other
good players who could hold their own in the main event, get a chance to dip
their snouts into the trough and pick up some serious money.
In fact the only part I disagree with eYe is his apparent dislike of Carlsen. (he wants to lay him out!) 😊
Ding Liren on his form since winning the title.

He says he was close to pulling out of this event. In hindsight he should have refrained
from playing in it. (hopefully not a sentence that will be used in the coming world title match)
He says regarding the World Title match;
“Still many months to go..After I get back to China I will start to prepare a little bit.”
From the interview we learn the problems were mental and not psychical. This is the
worse kind because outside people look fine. You have to feel sorry for him.
(normally when these guys blunder I don't bother, they earn more in one tournament
then I made in year so they can cry all the way to the bank. But this is very different.)
I've met Ding we spoke for a while a few years back.
Very shy. (or perhaps he was thinking - 'Who is this idiot?' )
Currently watching his live game v Nakamura (move 16,) Ding is holding his own
and looks OK but due to the uncharacteristic mistakes he has been making we
cannot be sure what will happen. A draw as Black v Nakamura will be good.
The Armageddon game can take care if itself, he will get least a point for that.
A win as Black v Nakamura....very possible with the old Ding. Let's hope so.
