Isn't it obvious? He thinks Hans is a cheater and refuses to play against him.
Wrong.

He plays against him, and then throws a tiff. He's being a little girl about this.

No, but the way he's doing it does.

He should put his cards on the table, not throw his rattle out of the pram. If he didn't want to play Niemann, he shouldn't have played him to begin with, not throw a tiff like this. He's making himself look like The Donald throwing ketchup at the wall.
You continually hyperbolize Magnus' actions when your claims couldn't further from the truth. Magnus has been quiet and reserved about his decisions to withdraw or resign. He hasn't been going on Twitter rants, he hasn't been talking trash during interviews and he hasn't been making a scene during games.

Nothing Magnus has done is comparable to "Trump throwing ketchup on the wall". He's using silent protests in a dignified manner.

Magnus calmly resigns and then logs off.

Shallow Blue: "OMG, he's going nuts!!!"

Well, that last one's certainly wrong. Quoting the self-proclaimed "Special One"? Come on, how self-indulgent can you get!?

But in any case, flouncing off during the Sinquefield cup, or resigning any public game at that level after only one move, whether on-line or OTB, is the opposite of "quiet and reserved".

He's being petulant, he is not being open and above-board, he's financially involved, and he's looking very dubious indeed.

Two replies to one post in a row. Within three minutes.

Are you sure you're not an alias for AverageJoe?

Very good advise...valid before condemning anyone 😉
Cannot disagree either.

It is an intriguing tale…

So, in this digital tournament, Magnus resigned after one move, but he’s still in the tournament, but his (the one accused of cheating) has been knocked out in the quarter finals. Is this correct?

Maybe Magnus just had a bad day at that physical tournament.

Hell, I’ve had days so bad I couldn’t recognise myself in the mirror. Doesn’t mean the mirror’s lying or cheating though.

So it turns out Nieman's coach was also banned from a chess site for cheating. Not only that, the coach, Maxim Dlugy, was also imprisoned after being convicted for embezzlement.

So Nieman has a history of cheating and has a coach who is both a cheater and a criminal. Magnus' case keeps building.

The article states,"In 2005, the Chess GM got entangled in a $9 million embezzlement and spent months in a Russian prison – though he was then acquitted."

Thanks for the correction. The coach is not a criminal, just a cheater like Hans.
