Nice puzzle. I like the part where the 'wrong' N is on e3, forcing a further slew of checks just to substitute the other one.

"Fixed Rebel 9.0's display bug in cases when a very deep mate combination is found. Rebel10 now will show now the correct mate line, see the following example:
00:00:00 2.01 Mate in 30 moves Ne3-g4+ Ke5-f5 Ng4-h6+ Kf5-e5 Nh6-f7+ Ke5-f5
Please note that the complete mate is found in less than one second!"

A lot more commercial talk like "In other words Rebel (using anti-GM) does not need to know the sacrifice is 100% correct for this position, Rebel smells the chance of an attack and goes for it!"
We're ten years further, have engines been messed up in the meantime?
Originally posted by heinzkatI had a vague idea that the solution involved removing enough defensive pieces [with check] to pave the way for an eventual mate.

However, I solved by just looking for lines that made some kind of progress. Obviously, white must continually check, so there's few alternatives. There's no need for a complete understanding of the position up-front.
