What is the correct mating technique for King and Queen verses King and
Knight? I have searched several end game and other chess puzzle books,
such as Test Tube Chess, but have not yet found an analysis for this
ending.

This endgame is very unlikely to be in an endgame book, as it is considered a simple win for the Queen.

If the king and the knight are separated, it's easy to check a few times
and pick off the knight.

If they are together, walk your king over to them, then check the king away from the knight and force it backward. You'll find that either the K gets seperated and you can win the N, or you can create mate threats that will force the win of the knight (or mate immediately 🙂 )

Use the queen to pin the knight while moving your king closer. Aim to push the opposing king to the edge of the board using your king to cover escape squares (in other words the opposition). Should just be a matter of technique, once your king is close enouph you could win the knight outright as well 😉
