I think I can safely say that having memory improves your chess. (It also helps keep you from getting lost on your way home at the end of the day.) 🙂

Well, if you have a 0,33 L beer before a game it doesn't affect your calculation abilities but it makes you a bit braver. You risk more but that often leads to good results. When I have 2 games per day in an OTB tourney, if there's enough time between the games, I usually go to a cafe, to have lunch and a beer. It also helps the brain to relax if the first game has been tough.
