it's interesting that 3 of the 4 games were drawn so early. (before the 25th move). it seems that at super GM level, they assume they all play an approximately even endgame perfectly from begginning to end.

the tournament showed me that in super grandmaster chess, the objective of the game is to get out of the opening with no serious blunder and it's a draw. I was so enthusiastic about watching the games (the hours suitied pretty well for me) but now I see why people talk about chess being dead.

I don't think it's that bad. Check out Kramniks round 2 demolition of Morozevich.

yes, that was a little exaggeration, yesterday's games were nice too, there were 3 wins. I posted that right after kramnik drew in the 21st move in today's game, where there was everything to play for, and I was upset 🙂

Current game with Grischuck vs Svidler looks a good one.

Grischuck has given away a lot but will it pay off for him?

Kramnik vs Aronian 1/2 1/2.
Other games still in progress.

I'm enjoying the games in the main, a few of them have been routine draws but others have been great.

I'm a fan of kramniks, in this tourn( as in many others) he seems content to draw as easily as possible with black and go for the win if poss with white.

He gets alot of stick but he can be awesome when motivated.
(Beating kasparov, last game of leko match, playoff against topolov etc)

He must have great mental strength.

yeah the grischuk svidler is interesting, move 24...I'm thinking Ke7 or Bc8.

What do others think. To be fair i am a patzer but even i can see some big attacks coming by sacing a knight or bishop for the e6 pawn.

looks like he played pxbishop.

so i got that wrong! No shock there, i did see it but didn't fancy defending the attack.

This stuff is way over my head.:'(

Anad vs. Leko 1/2 1/2.

Ng*f7 looks interesting for Grischuck?

if Qb8 then Rxf7+ kg8 Qd7 ? looks good to me?

Svidler plays Bd4! stuff like this i just don't see. Puts the pressure back onto grischuck.

I can't see how his attack can continue now.
