What is your point? Have you ever played serious blitz chess?

I think PureRWandB is just giving us hope.
If these guys can miss mate in one then so can we and hold our head high.
But blitz is a different game.

In proper OTB games these strong lads do on occassion miss mates in one.
Fabio Bellini - Vugar Gashimov Olmpiad 2002. (white to play)

White played 51. Ne6. The game ended in a draw.
(someone else will happen long with the Kramnik game)

Now if you could understand that RHP games are different from any OTB game, we might get along better.

Here's my latest error, this time almost too bloody fatal and embarassing to share

    But I'm sharing it anyway

White has just played g4 in a position that is undoubtedly hopeless

all black has to do is something like g5, which stops the pawn advance AND stops the backrank threat

but I played Bd5, with the [hilariously stupid] idea that after Rxc2+ I could then take white's rook and enter an endgame that was so simple even my cat would win

Needless to say, Rb8+ was game over

I would make the usual "why didn't he resign earlier" moan and groans but to be honest, I've done it myself...
So I say kudos and well played to the fella for waiting on a rediculous mistake

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is win a "won" game. 😞

With emphasis on "sometimes". I'll choose the 'won' game over a 'lost' game "everytime". 🙂

As a general rule, I will always play a3 or similar in this situation, just so the risk of being backrank mated is gone. Even if it means losing a pawn/piece in doing so.
