I know there seems to be a rise in the interests of nationality on the site recently, but this is chess realeted (honest):
I was reading that the state of club chess in Germany is extremely healthy, with more club/amateur players than in any other country (I think). However, when I was browsing the chess ratings (http://www.clubkasparov.ru/528635642.html?86637325771153) there seems to be only one German in the top 50, and not many in the top 200.
So, is the interest in chess in Germany a recent thing, and do you think this will filter into the professional scene soon, or what?
Are we to expect Germany to emerge as a new chess superpower?
