The super-tournament in Morelia (Mexico) / Linares (Spain) starts today (games starting in about an hour from now) in Morelia, with Anand, Ivanchuk, Topalov, Leko, Radjabov, Aronian, Shirov and Carlsen playing.

It should be great and of very high quality. Linares is one of the most (if not the most) prestigious tournaments in all of chess.

I'm going to be travelling around Southern Spain early next month, so I hope I'll have the opportunity to visit Linares for a day's play.

Should be exciting, I'm glad it's moved back to Linares as I can follow the games live.

Todays schedule (Round 8):

Anand vs Shirov
Ivanchuk vs Carlsen
Radjabov vs Leko
Aronian vs Topov

I'll be following Anand vs Shirov. Let's see if Shirov can gain his revenge!

I'm a bit worried that there isn't a link to round 8 yet in the live games page. (http://www.ajedrezmorelialinares.com.mx/english/live.htm)

Wow, Ivanchuk just lost against Carlsen, messing up a game that looked lost for Carlsen in time trouble. Poor guy.

Does anyone know what the time controls are, and how long a game typically lasts? Are there intervals?

I think the controls are 40/1 then add 1hr for next 20 moves. Not sure about after 60 moves. No increments.
