I decided to play against Fritz 10 unleashed recently in a 25 min game. What baffles me is that its assessment of the position sounded like I was not doing too badly. It's comments were :-
- Black has an active position
- Black king safety dropped
- The knight feels good on d4 (yikes that's Fritz knight not mine.)
At the end it felt like a 10 tonne truck was on me and felt like losing OTB to a strong human. Who can spot any errors on my part? A human would have lodged his knight on c5. This made me spend precious minutes thinking on what to do, before I lost on time.

I'm not sure I can identify any real errors on your part, but... had I been in your position, after Fritz's 4. e3, I might have continued along somewhat more orthodox lines such as 4...0-0, 4...c5, or 4...b6. With your 4...d5, Fritz can play the Botvinnik line, which forces you to retract your Bishop.. (You could, though, take on c3, with an eventual transposition to the Sämisch, but that’s pretty cool for white, and it’s only a matter of time then&hellip😉

I'm sure one of the big boys here will give you a much better analysis...
Originally posted by MathurineThanks. I did not think the opening went too badly as the Nimzo-Indian is pretty fluid even against Fritz. I should not have respected Fritz too much and could have gone 18 ..b4 as the white Bishop is badly placed on c2. I was also not forced to exchange my dark squared Bishop as the d4 Knight is powerful without it. On move 23 I could have exchanged rooks. Or maintained Queen at d6 and double rooks on the c-file.

Originally posted by Sam The ShamI pretty much used to have the same mentality till I witnessed Kasparov slugging it out with Fritz in blitz before he signed his autograph. You cannot see as much as Kasparov but don't give Fritz too much respect.
I play Fritz 7, take all the time I need, Fritz is set at 5 seconds a move. I get crushed like peanuts all the time, if I can make it past 45 moves before it announces a forced mate I think I've done pretty well.
