Nicely played. The sacrifice is slightly similar to one that was played against me here:
Game 1576660
I spent some time looking at this very interesting game:
- good game indeed! Thanks for posting this. Offers very nice tactical as well as positional elements worth to be looked at. The two white sac's (knight- and the refused rook-) are amazing, as well as the overall positional approach. If it were OTB, I would think it was played by a very strong GM.
- I haven't studied the analysis completely in depth, but it looks well done too.
- Just one remark: in some points, the analysis sounds less objective than needed, making it weaker. For instance: "17. g4 b5? Weak. I think the main reason I won this game is because her engine played very poor positional chess" . I seriously doubt that this game is a convincing argument to show that the black player is an engine user (this is not meant to question the decison made by the gamemods, although it would be interesting to get a comment from that side on this game as well). Certainly not based on this single move, which looks like a positional (bad?) choice and not a tactical or short-range one as engines tend to make, and far less obvious than 'h6' which is probably the better choice indeed.

Originally posted by XanthosNZI am not questioning the decision to ban Mary Ann. I am questioning the (overall very good) analysis using that information. I would hope that the decision to ban her was not based on this game.

Originally posted by Mephisto2I don't know what games it was based on but it was definately based on more than one game (hell I personally analysed at least two which I sent on to the Game Mods, I'd be pissed if they didn't use them). If you check the move in question you'll find that engines like b5 and yet I agree with fifthdivision that is indeed a mistake in that position. So Mary Ann was banned as a cheater and she played a move that an engine says is good (equal 1st choice) and yet (in my opinion) is bad. Is it fair and valid to call it the engine's mistake?

This is of course different for Exy's mistakes where he would play long engine lines and then blunder a piece obviously.
Originally posted by XanthosNZYou are still missing my point: the analysis would be much better than it already is without the reference to engine use. Like it or not, but a 'positional misjudgement' like b5 is not unknown to human players.

ps. definitely.
Originally posted by fifthdivisionPerhaps, but that does not add to the intrinsic quality of the analysis of the posted game. On the contrary, it clearly seems to bias you evaluation.
I do not know if my games were used as evidence for her banning, as I was not the one to inform the admins that she was cheating, but the next game I post will be the game in which I found the evidence (enough for me, at least) that convinced me she was using an engine.

What's wrong with these people??
Start two threads about clashing with Fritz and gets banned a week later! 🙄
It is weird that he only played 50 games and they busted him ASAP, whereas Mary Ann got to play like 500 before she was busted.
I wonder if his forum posts grabbed too many higher lvl players attn and they analysed his games and found warning flags?
I thought it was odd that he ended his second thread with something of a challenge to the Nxe4 players and said "what is better to argue about than chess!" but that he didnt respond to no1Marauder or Varenka when they challenged his evaluation.
Of course being that he was banned, I wonder if he didnt have a chance to respond, or just wasnt going to/couldnt??
I noticed one guy banned under 3(b) was around a 1400 or so, but pretty much everyone else is pushing or over 2000.
Apparently it isnt enough to be a cheater and win most of the time, gotta get greedy and go for the gusto!
Originally posted by TuranthorIt is very intriguing that most of the players who get banned for violating 3(b) seem to do something to "out" themselves.
its just insane.
