I dunno what the heck just happened with this guy, but I completely cracked him open. I was on ICC and see a seek for a 15 0 game from an IM, and I was like, "Sweet, free game against a master!". Anyway, I think he had to be drunk or something.

I looked up his FIDE rating on their site, almost 2500! Anyway, sorry to boast, but this has never happened before, and I figure it probably won't happen again for a long time. Also, in response to a recent post on the English, play it, and you will crunk IM's. Hehehe, drunk or stoned ones at least.
😀

He screwed his position with 15. ...cxb5?, and you used the opportunity masterfully.

Yeah, after Ra7, I think he's toast. I have an insanely good score with the English in serious live games. I agree that cxb5 sucked. He should have just played ..Bb7, connected his rooks, and stayed protected the b5 square. 🙂
friend was rated only about 1000 at the time but is realy good at blitz, constantly beating better players at it.
poor drunk welsh IM managed to beat the 1800 players he played but not my club mate
was great.
I once read a book entitled the Psychology of Chess. Often times, when a very strong player is playing a far weaker player, he feels no accomplishment by beating him/her. Even the win is meaningless to him. The master will struggle and give his ultimate best to his close rated peers. But, when he has to face a 1000 rated player, he may dwindle, try to impress even and ultimately make a stupid move which is far less competent than his true strength might suggest. Also, I might add that one day I had beaten Chessmaster 3000 on its highest level. In those years, the program was rated at a strong master. It even prints out a certificate if you beat it. Somehow I had created a messy tunnel of isolated pawns and the position was the strangest one I'd ever seen in my life. But, Chessmaster could not break through and I had free mobility. I was creating, creating something within myself, and the Chessmaster resigned! That program never resigns! I never understood what happened! But, I chalked that one up for experience. Then, I saw a game where Bobby Fischer was beaten by an 1800 A Class player. The moral of the story: Every dog has his day. Every master has to pay on any given day.
