31 rating points thanks to bdapaul in Game 2970871.

I totally miscalculated 12. .. BXe5 overlooking 18. NXe7.

Oh well, 1900 here I come! :'(

Here's one of mine. Got 3 higher rated players to help me with the caro-kann and I played a different variation vs each of them.

The advance with e5, exchange and the Nigel short one.

After awhile I had no clue what was going on in this game. Black was just to much to handle and crushing move by move.

You got hammered. You could have resigned alot earlier

I think I faired better in this game, 32 impressive moves I made it, and I could have fought on for another 15 moves or so before it became painfully obvious like yours

Yes but it is only a bad loss if your opponent is 500 rating points below you.

I've had one of those. I lost to a 1200 at club yesterday. 🙁 I had the game won easily too, but I played careless and let it slip away.

That I did.

First time I played that caro-kann and who better to test it out on then one of the higher rated players on this site.

He could tell I had no clue what white's opening plans were, where the pieces went etc...

I played till the end so the message sunk in. Sometimes when you resign you make the same mistake again. You need that bitter reminder not to do it again.

At least I learnt something 🙂
