Officially it's called the Center (or Centre!) Game, but it almost always transposes to something else. e.g. the Scotch: 1. e4 e5 2. d4 exd4 3. Nf3 Nc6

It can also spring from the Englund Gambit. 1.d4 e5?! 2.e4.

Of course the Englund Gambit is famous for it's one trap which has
caught 21 RHP players. Here is one from last year.

It's funny, I thought I invented that variation, I came across it independently🙂

One thing I noted, if black puts out the knight instead of bringing back the bishop, it is a counter gambit, QxB, N-d5 and now white is in deep doo doo.
