What would also be interesting would be the number of games that never started and the games that were resigned for sandbagging purposes.
Don't know of an easy way to track that though.
I imagine there must be quite a few where new players join and set up games and never move.

Just had to google the term sandbagging - shame if that happens but I don't play in clans and tournaments.

'Games Explorer' - go right down to the bottom of the sites page and click on it.
Says there are 12,167, 477 games in the RHP database but it does not log games under 6 moves.
A lot of these will be abandoned after 2-3 or even one move and includes scholars and fools mates.

But that only works if there is a game numbered starting at '1'.
The lowest game number I can find on here is Game 18943 played
in March 2001. The site went up in February 2001.
So the 16th millionth game will be in the region off 16,018,943

I looked after the first game of our friend @mwmiller and found that

game to be one of the first, and it is quite clear that the numbering is correct, only the linking is a problem.

I see, I was adding '000's'' in front of the numbers.
The lowest I can find is Game 10 a no move game.
I suspect games 1-9 were testers. The ratings from game 10
indicate there were other game with players starting at 1200.
Maybe Russ can tell us for sure.
