The solution to the selfmate is rather charming.

White to play and force Black to mate him in 5 moves.



I'm not ruining it - SG has just posted the solution.

I'm no good at this, but I've been messing around for a few minutes with this stuff.

The 3rd time I went to far though. I wasted a lot of moves (especially trying to make it white to move). I'm sure you could do this one a lot shorter.



I bet this has been done to death. ???

Edit: On second thought, you could move the king and queen down there too!

I assume you're trying to make Proof Games?

Now, here comes the hard part: the gamescore must be exact i.e., no move transpositions allowed!

1.e4 e5 2.c4 is NOT a sound proof game [for example] because white's first and second moves can be transposed.
