Well as this thread is useless I'll hijack it for my own nefarious purposes.

I normally play solid openings (The Dragon perhaps isn't so solid). However recently I've been tempted by some odd gambits. Do this one seem playable at anything above blitz?

The Dilworth Gambit:
1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nc3 Bb4 4. e4?!

I think I'd only ever use it against players I know are prepared for my normal Catalan and the Nimzo-Indian.

And after 4...Nxe4!? doesn't White just lose a pawn?

5. Qg4 Nxc3 6. a3 Be7 and perhaps white can get enough counterplay to justify the pawn. I'm not sure that's why I'm asking.

After 7.bxc c5!? Black seem much better. if you play it in a serious game I doubt you'll get good results, except from the element of surprise.

You appear to be right. 8. Qxg7 Bf6 and white is behind in development.
