Yeah, sorry about that. I was looking at the way the pairings were posted, and it threw me.

yah, I pulled him out of the book as quickly as possible. Databases are too equalizing.
First of all, I don't use databases. Secondly, d4 was the new idea. d3, Nbd2 is usually seen in a KIA formation. And, prior to d4, the move order was a KIA for White. I'm only slightly familiar with the Reti, unless you are telling me that's what I've been playing all these years. I do on occasion transpose from KIA to Enlgish, however.

The first round is well underway, with Wayne clenching a timeout win, and shortcircuit applying the expected result against Blitzkrieg.

Man, I feel sort of dirty when you describe my game that way.

It could be thus: "Shortciruit demolishes Blitzkrieg in Olympian style"
But I would hate to seem disingenuous. 😛

I believe I was on the road to victory in my game anyway. The timeout was the easy way to end it sooner.

Yes, I think you had matters well in hand. Apparently your opponent saw this as well.

Nah, I don't want fanfare (my name isn't "cms" is it?). I don't ridicule my opponent and I do believe he was overmatched is all.

that's assuming you don't understand the moves your making. Otherwise, your making the 'best' move, because your making the move of a 2700 player.

two 2700 players play a fairly equal game. therefore, databases are equalizing.
