Would you timeout someone on Christmas Day? Doesn't that graduate you to Bond villain status, or at least villain-#3-from-season-five-of-24 status?

Why not? My own personal ethic for timing out games wouldn't change if it's Christmas.

Pretty much the only time I time out is if my opponent's rating has dropped big time. So if I started playing him in the 1400's and now he's in the 900's -- I'll time him out in a heartbeat no matter what day of the year.

The other time is if the person has a lost position and they just stopped playing the game.

And finally -- if they've timed out with me but they are making moves in other games.

Other than that I'm not much for timing people out.

everyone knows the time out rules, even us new people, it is part of the game....Same as if you were in an over the board game...Are you going to tag on time to the opponents clock when his flag drops........I think NOT !!!

I timed someone out on Christmas eve and got a nasty message for doing so.

Not "Thank you, Uncle Cyril, that's just what I've always wanted" ?
