Here's one of my 3 minute chess defensive masterpieces. Or is it mess-terpieces?
I had black again (at FICS).
I came close to blowing it. In this game white attacks with his whole army. I attack with one piece. Guess who gets mated. 🙂

Although I used to love this strongpoint defense for black, I have ultimately given it up. Black remains passive too long. White can really tear black up if he isn't careful too. See Cinco VS paulbuchmanfromfics at this site for instance. It was quite an embarassing game for me. I'll just stick to the Breyer from now on, unless I take up the Open. 🙂

Here's a nice St.George Defense. This is game in 15 at FICS. White was rated 2000 (around my rating as well).

A fun game, full of errors.
27. ... g3? (27. ... Qb5+ !! 28. Qd3 (28.c4 Bf3!) Bf3 29.Nxf3 gxf3 30.Ke1 Rh1+ 31.Kd2 Rxd1+ 32.Kxd1 Qxd3+)

29. ... Rh1+ ?! / 29. ... Rxf2+ ! 30.Kxf2 Rh2+ A. 31.Ke3 Bc5+ 32.Qd4 Qe4 mate or B. 31. Kg3 Rg2+ 32.Nxg2 Qxg2 mate or 32. Kh3 g4 mate.

I hope you enjoyed it. 🙂

I bet there was some keyboard thumping and cursing in the
White household that night. Good defence though.

In the first game you posted against Fritz I think that black can defend if he refuses the rook and castles.

No doubt. The trick is for him to look deep enough and find the refutation for white to Kxd7. If he can't find it, he's a victim of the horizon effect. That's about all an amateur can hope for. 🙂

And this one is good.
You would have thought Black suspected something when you left
the Knight on c3 hanging - he never saw it.

Nice final position.

I played that first game out with 22...0-0 and white ended up resigning in this position.

We played a 34 min game starting with white to move on move 23 (45 - [0.5*22] is how we decided the time) I wasn't expecting to win but won 25 bucks for it. 😀

Let me get this straight, just so I understand. You played the game vs fritz and changed Kxd7 to 0-0? Then you and a friend started playing from there at move 34 and bet money on it? If that's right, it's pretty funny.

I know you like puzzles tom tom. I'm not really that good at them. This one is fairly easy I guess. It's a Sam Lloyd.
Reach this position in 12 moves.

Stalemate !!! The shortest one possible without captures. Supposedly, it can be done in ten with captures !!!

SOLV'D

We played from move 22 with 34 minutes a piece.

EDIT: if there is only supposed to be one way to do this then its also COOK'D.... But seeing as there are many ways to get here I doubt it was meant for a proof game.
