Ok I believe this is a form of cheating, if dissagree please justify yourself. I'll explain why I consider this cheating. When I studied electronics at college I had a ton of books it was upto me to read the books and learn what they had to offer, I was not allowed to take the books into the exam as this would be considered cheating. Which brings me to my point that having a pre-written battle plan is cheating.
I think the best way to learn an opening is to read the opening book and then play by trial&error. I got 98% in my electronics exam, if I had my coursebooks during the exam I would have scored 100%. And have no chance of failing.

Perhaps this site is not right for you. It won't change, as the rules of correspondence chess are quite clear.

i like to play almost all my games from my own stupidity.

i also like the freedom to consult the greats and copy them sometimes ... DURING the game (doing it afterwards is not enough to learn as well)

i can feel some opponents who use random opening books for every opening ... they feel level for a long time ... they find the equalising move everytime, but they do not execute me when i err ... and when they leave their book they crumble ... these games are like an elephant with no trunk, but i do not mind they are still ok.

when all is said and done - i like to play 99.9% of my moves from my own instinct ... and have the best games from start to finish, with players who do likewise.

to me: the real meaning of correspondence chess is you have (almost) as much time as you like 🙂

flexmore you are the type of player who will defeat most players who are using opeing books in live match. good for you keep up the good work, and like you say once they leave their opening books they crumble, people will not learn unless they make mistakes.

I just want to clear something up. I did feel like you do when I first got here. What changed? I was playing high rated players and decided to try some database. I tell anyone when I use data, and I probably only use data in 5 percent of my games.

It helped me learn new openings and get further in some games... I don't use data unless I tell the person I am playing. It is a good learning tool, as you see the right thing to do, rather than realize you did the wrong thing and try to figure out what you did wrong.

Other than that, my moves are my moves.

Phlabibit when I learnt the london system opening I looked at the finale posistion just before the king is recomended to castle the pdf I looked at didnt even tell me how to get to posistion was just a picture of the finale posistion before castling, I had to learn though trial&error how to get to that posistion without being attack.. how many times do you think people took advantage c2 with their knight & bishop before I learnt my lesson.. i also played against the computer to learn how to build up london system opening.
