Originally posted by irontigranThat is generally regarded as the Reti now. 1. Nf3 used to be the Reti but it can transpose to so many other openings that a decision on what to call it is usually postponed until it is clear. For example: 1. Nf3 c5 2. e4 gives a Sicilian, 1. Nf3 d5 2. d4 takes us into queen's pawn game territory and so on. In general it is not a proper Reti until d5 and c4 have been played.
what is 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 called?
i thought this was the reti but just saw that theyre calling reti just 1.Nf3... so whats the above one? or do they just see where it transposes to?
