Do you ever notice that openings start cropping up?

First there's one, next there's 3.

Here are two odd ones.

Me white.

1. c4 e5
2. Nc3 Bb4
3. Nd5 Bc5

As Black

1. e4 c5
2. Nc3 Nc6
3. f4 g6
4. Nf3 Bg7

Before this I'd swear in over 700 games I'd never seen these before, but now they're the current trend!

The first one seems unusual, but the second is the main line of the Sicilian Grand Prix Attack.

My usual opponents aren't ones for main line theory.

The first one is a pretty well-known variation on the English. The real wonder is that it isn't played more often.
