What is your favorite opening?

Mine are

Queen's Gambit as white.
and
Siclian as black.

I'm still such a novice at openings (edit -- chess). I would say that my favorites are the ones that I know. However, I think that would be misleading so I'll say my favorites are the ones that I feel almost familiar with.

Ruy Lopez & Sicilian. Queen's gambit if I'm feeling lucky.

I like greenpawn's opening tactics though. But my wife has curbed that sort of behavior so my next favorite opening is that of a nice bottle of Summit Extra Pale Ale.

1.e4 with white (at least so far)

Caro Kann with black

Marshall as black & as white, dutch and king's indian as black. I feel very comfortable as white against french and as black against KG

anyway, my favs are (like my profile says)

(white)bird,KG,colle,

(black)caro kann,latvian gambit,nimzo indian, queens indian and modern benoni.

There is a complex line, which I rarely get to test is:

1.e4 Nc6
2.d4 e5
3.d5 Nce7
4.f4!? Ng6
5.f5!? Qh4+
6.Kd2 Qxe4
7.fxg6 Qxd5+
8.Ke1 Qxd1+
9.Kxd1 hxg6

P.S.: I say that black has enough compensation. 4.f4 is really a matter of choice. 4.Nf3 is quite "normal" in this opening.

Kings Indian Attack as White

Kings Indian Defense as Black,

Long live Fischer. (Zombies are really good at chess)

After 27 years I have settled on the King's Indian Attack, Benoni-type setups and the Scandinavian. The latter has been my favourite defence to e4 since the 1970's and I know of no refutation by white.

As white I play 1.d4 , I try to shoot for Colle.

As black I play 1.e4 e5 or QGD.

Lot's of openings get the job done, but none are as fun to play as the Fried Fox.
